Sure, I am too naive to believe I can get a iPhone 3GS for $400. But posting fake ads on competitor’s site is really not a good marketing strategy. How can I believe the listings on your site then?

So, please, avoid doing business with cheqd.com if you can.

RubyFringe 2008 First Day Summarize

July 20th, 2008
Thanks Pete and Unspace for putting together this great event!
Even we already had a pretty high expectation on RubyFringe, the quality of every sessions are still surprisingly good! I was so impressed and inspired!
Here is my short and sweet version of first day summarize:
I have no time for the college, checkout my sexy Adhearsion.
Know who are your customers and find ways to reach them.
Memcached is your good friend, here are my awesome tips.
Merb is awesome, datamaper is awesome, thor is awesome, johnson is awesome, YARD is awesome.
Code coverage is bullsh*t, read some good books, pay someone to use your site and watch them using it.
Let’s enjoy some Jazz!
Pick your clients, close you deals and I will kick your ass if you only charge less than $150 per hour.
Fuck it! Let’s just do it!
Your web framework sucks and you know it.
No more Ruby on Rails! Let’s play some fucking awesome music, then peace out!

Community practicing on the world’s largest Question Bank

July 8th, 2008

We’ve just launched a new feature on LearnHub.com: Question Bank.

Over 1,500 members use this innovative social interface to practice for exams, which includes tools to allow members to time themselves, debate solutions and strategy with each other, and to track their improvement over time. The question banks grow daily as members and staff add new questions. As one of the only alternatives to expensive books and courses, LearnHub’s free SAT and GMAT communities are catching on quickly, averaging 50 new members every day since their launch.

PRWeb

Here is one thing makes our question bank so unique:

After you answer the questions, you will not only see the correct answers, but also the comments from other people who have answered the same question! And you can share your thoughts with us too.

Simple, but useful.

Should I say: it’s time for Community Practicing?!

Using Zoomii to find your books on Amazon

June 15th, 2008

I’ve noticed Zoomii from the time Chris Thiessen did his presentation on Democamp 14. It was so impress and inspiration!

As Chris said, “Zoomii” is the closest the one which gives you the shopping experience like a real bookstore. Which I think is true. Take a minute on watching the video he created, I believe you will agree with me too.

Something else you might interested in:

  • Chris has built this totally on his owner using Java and JavaScript.
  • Chris has built this from zero. By zero, I mean he even built the web server for this instead of using Tomcat or others. I’ve asked him why, he said it was not that hard to create a web server and he only implemented what he really want, so the performance is pretty good.

Anyway, Zoomii is pre-open now, give it a try and you will like it. :)

LearnHub & The Mullet Strategy

June 11th, 2008

John just posted a new article: LearnHub & The Mullet Strategy

I think it is hilarious!

Version 2 of the LearnHub homepage got out the door today, and was covered by TechCrunch: LearnHub Relaunches Its Social Learning Network. With this we’ve crystilized our homepage strategy around everyone’s favorite hairstyle, The Mullet

I first heard the term used in this way in an article about The HuffingtonPost in the New Yorker: Out of Print. The term caught my eye because it was funny, memorable, and accurately describes our project.
